Our Story

4:8 Fitness was started in response to a calling that the Lord has placed on our hearts for years: To train with people to apply's God's Truths to all areas of life; especially fitness, wellness, family, and education with the overarching goal of overcoming life's obstacles and living out our purpose in His power and for His glory.

So we purchased a piece of land and have given it to this mission. We call this place The Training Grounds. It's our gym, our classroom, our gathering place, and our obstacle course; all designed to train physically and mentally in God's Word.  We are offering fitness and sports training classes, team and family building opportunities, authentic learning experiences and internships.

1 Timothy 4:8, Philippians 4:8 and James 4:8 encourage us to put training in Godliness and right thinking in the forefront of all we do and to draw near to God.  These are the verses that inspired the 4:8 Fitness name and are the pillars behind all we do at The Training Grounds.

what we believe

We believe in CELEBRATING the GOOD NEWS: That God, the Creator of the universe, sent His son, Jesus, to save all of us sinners from an eternal destiny in hell.  Our perfect God sent His perfect Son to pay the debt that none of us could afford to pay.  By putting our true faith in Jesus as the Lord and Savior over our lives, we are promised an eternity with God in a place more beautiful than we can possibly imagine.

We believe that God created all: that there was a definite beginning to the universe and God created it. God created us, as humans, from the very beginning.  He created each of us and knew us from before we were born. He has a plan and purpose for each of our lives.  And we are only able to walk in that plan and purpose when we walk with Him.

We believe that Father God is a good, good father. God is all loving, all good, all knowing, and all powerful. God exists as God the Father; God the Son, Jesus (aka Yeshua which is Jesus’ Hebrew name); and the Holy Spirit.  When we put our faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit lives within us and empowers us to understand things and lead our best life.

We believe that The Bible is God’s love letter to us.  We believe that the Bible was divinely inspired by God himself and that it is completely true.  We believe that we need to know it and live by it.

We believe that we should obey what God tells us to do in the Bible.  We do not believe that obeying (or any kind of good works) can earn our way into Heaven (Only the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross does that!) but that we should seek to live righteous and godly lives because of Jesus’ love for us and our love for Him and others.  We are thankful that Jesus sums up all of the commandments in the Bible in this simple way- Love God and Love others.  And we’re thankful that the Holy Spirit empowers us to live this out.

We believe that there’s more to life than what we can see… that there is a real spiritual battle going on between good and evil. We are promised that Jesus is victorious in the end but the battle is still hard and we are thankful that the Bible tells us how to put on our armour to stand strong against the schemes of the devil and overcome obstacles.

We believe that we all have sin struggles and blindspots and that training together is vital to a Christ-centered life.  We believe that we are called to worship the Lord daily in all of our words and actions.  We believe that training our bodies physically while we train our minds and hearts in godliness is an amazing and fun way to worship.  We feel the Lord has led our family in a unique way to share our faith with others in this way.
