Facing Our Obstacles

What's your biggest obstacle in life? I mean, that deep down, big thing that stands in your way so often? For me, it's fear. Fear that I'm doing the wrong thing, fear that I'm screwing things up as a wife and as a mom, fear of what others think of me... I'm prone to fear... So. Many. Things. Fear has stopped me from doing things that I felt called to do and led me to try to control things that I couldn't (and shouldn't). Anyone else?
So what do I do with this obstacle? First, I recognize it for what it is; an obstacle. What's an obstacle? It's something standing in my way, obscuring my path, slowing me down. But the good news is, an obstacle is something I CAN conquer, with God's help. In His power. For His glory. I apply His word, His truth and His help. And keep training and practicing and praying my way through when this obstacle stands in my way.
4:8 Fitness, a mission team formed by my husband Jason and I, is rooted in these truths. Life is full of obstacles. To live the life God is calling us to, we need to overcome by training in His word and in His strength. To practice this, we have built physical obstacles to represent real struggles. Fear Not, Walk As Wise, Busy Bodies, Highs and Lows, Mountain of Forgiveness... these are just a handful of the physical obstacles that we've built and trained on at home. While training we apply God's Word to each obstacle. For example, 2 Timothy 1:7 is one of the verses we practice as we scale and descend Fear Not (shown here). As we practice physically, mentally, and spiritually we become more resilient in Him.
As a husband and wife team, we are now feeling called to take what we've done at home with family and friends and take it a step further. We've purchased land and our building "The Training Grounds" so we can invite others to conquer obstacles with us. This is a big step, a leap of faith. This is a time where my flesh would tend to fear and worry. Is this the best choice? Will anyone see the vision with us? Will God provide? I will choose to Fear Not. Lord, help me overcome and choose faith and trust, in Jesus name. ~Laurie
